Tree Cabling and Bracing
Tree Cabling and Bracing
Trees have a wide variety of forms, growth habits, structures, branch unions, etc. Certain varieties of trees are more likely to fail than others. This damage typically occurs during high winds, or a heavy snow load in the canopy of the tree. Sometimes the portion of the tree that fails won’t cause any more damage than just an asymmetrical, off-balance, silly looking tree. Sometimes the damage can be extensive to your home, vehicles, sheds, etc. Unfortunately, this damage can even cause bodily injury, and death. In a lot of instances, these tree failures, and the damages associated with them, can be prevented. Do you have a large evergreen tree in your yard with multiple tops? Maybe you have a large deciduous tree in your yard with a visible crack, in a crotch, or branch union of the tree. There are non-invasive, and minimally invasive methods of securing these faulty portions of the tree, to prevent future failure. Another issue we see in newly planted trees, is partial, or complete up-rooting, due to an insufficient root system. Sometimes it’s due to high winds, or maybe a young fruit tree with a heavy amount of fruit, or a heavy snow-load in the canopy of a young tree. These issues can typically be eliminated by something as simple as bracing the tree, with small rope or cord, for the first several years of the trees life, until the root system develops.
